IDC 2.54 mm Pitch Standard

Working Principle

• Conductor Lay-Up – 7 / 0.127 mm tinned-copper strands are laid in parallel at 2.54 mm centres and laminated between two PVC 45P layers to form UL2651 ribbon.

• IDC Press-On Termination – Sharp phosphor-bronze contacts inside the IDC connector pierce the insulation and bite onto each conductor in one press action, creating a gas-tight joint.

• Snap-Fit Header Mate – The IDC connector body latches onto a 2.54 mm male header with positive retention; strain relief prevents the cable from flexing at the contact.

• Pin-1 Identification – The contrasting pink edge on the gray jacket always corresponds to pin 1 of the IDC connector, so orientation errors are eliminated at install time.

• Inspection & Continuity – Every conductor is 100 % continuity-tested before pack-out; the IDC joint keeps contact resistance under 20 mΩ for the life of the assembly.
